Nike closed the studio. The avatars kept trading without it.

Nike acquired the digital footwear studio RTFKT in December 2021, and CloneX — a 20,000-piece avatar collection made with Takashi Murakami — became its flagship. On 2 December 2024 RTFKT said it would wind down operations by January 2025, shipping one final drop on the way out. The collection was never shut off, because a collection cannot be shut off. Nike stopped; the contract did not.
