Meta began testing NFT display and minting across Instagram and Facebook in May 2022, expanding by November to let a set of US creators mint and sell on Polygon directly from the apps. On 14 March 2023 it announced it was winding the feature down to focus on messaging and payments. The distance from expansion to discontinuation was roughly four months.
